ISS Mediclean is the Healthcare Facilities Management Division for the United Kingdom of the international ISS group. The group has grown over the past seventeen years and they are one of the leading hospital support services suppliers in the UK.
The challenge
ISS Mediclean wanted to ensure that both their company and their suppliers were adhering to all the necessary food safety regulations. Without trained internal assessors in food manufacturer and supplier safety, they decided to use an external body.
The solution
ISS Mediclean awarded their first contract to STS in 1987. Initially training their cleaning staff and ward hostesses in both food safety and health & safety the contract expanded to include development of company documentation. When their catering division was established sts-solutions implemented a comprehensive auditing programme of each catering operation, a programme still undertaken annually..
With over 10 years experience in supplier assessments, sts-solutions was the ideal partner to provide a comprehensive solution for the food suppliers to ISS Mediclean.
With our prior knowledge of the company, their services and suppliers, we were able to carry out an extensive supplier assessment programme. This meant that we could identify potential food safety risks through working directly with their suppliers. We could also determine the frequency of required suppliers’ audits based on the risks posed.
After the audits have been carried out, we issue monthly update reports, keeping ISS Mediclean informed of any changes in their suppliers’ status.
We also pay special attention to certain supplier matters concerning ISS Mediclean and advised them accordingly.
Creating relationships
We have developed a successful working relationship with ISS Mediclean over the last 15 years, developing their company Food Safety documentation and undertaking routine audits of their catering contracts.
With a vast knowledge of their company, services and suppliers, built up over the years, we can give specific information and guidance that meets their exact requirements. And we will continue providing supplier assessments that meet these requirements in years to come.
